The OAA’s Continuing Education Webinar Series continues, with virtual learning taking place biweekly throughout the fall and into the new year. Among the offerings later this year are opportunities to earn Structured Learning that qualifies for the Association’s mandatory Climate Action requirement.
On November 10, “Cx 201: What are the Biggest Challenges in Commissioning?,” led by engineer Rino Zan (Morrison Hershfield), offers fundamental information about the commissioning process, emphasizing the importance of an organized approach to help achieve a successful project.
Then, on November 17, architects Deborah Farrow and James Farrow review the history of prescriptive building codes in Ontario, and the introduction and evolution of the objective-based code. Their session, “Alternative Solutions,” helps attendees understand what the terms in the 2012 Ontario Building Code mean when referencing “acceptable solution” and “alternative solutions,” along with the methodology that code sets out to create an alternative solution. The webinar explains how to apply for an alternative solution to a municipality and what other options are available when this is not accepted.
